The Manchester Airport Community Trust Fund has awarded us a grant of £3000 to buy track hoists for the bathrooms in our Day Centre. This is a very competitive award so we’re really pleased.
Track hoists enable people to move safely from place to place who are unable to weight bare, for example from wheelchair to toilet. Overhead hoist systems don’t take up any floor space which reduces trip hazards and keeps the bathrooms looking neat and tidy.
They also require minimum physical effort from Support Workers, and have a greater lifting range, which means they can be used to move the people we support higher and lower to safely carry out transfers that would be impossible with a mobile hoist.
