Residential Choices

Supportability offers residential care at Cheddle Lodge, a purpose built home located close to Cheadle town centre. We can accommodate up to 13 residents aged 18 plus. Cheddle Lodge specialises in providing care and support to adults who have complex needs.

What do we provide?

Our highly trained team of staff are able to support residents with multiple disabilities and complex health needs within a caring, homely environment. Cheddle Lodge is equipped with high-tech tracking equipment that enables residents to be moved in a safe and secure manner; for example from bed to wheelchair or wheelchair to bath.

Each resident has their own spacious single bedroom and residents are actively encouraged to be involved in the design and decoration of their rooms.

A purpose built sun lounge allows residents to enjoy the lovely garden in a peaceful, quiet environment.

We encourage family and friends to visit and spend time at Cheddle Lodge. Relatives meet on a regular basis to feedback their views on the quality of services provided.

Abbie’s mum says…

“When Abbie moved into Cheddle Lodge, we received outstanding support during the transition, especially when we did not have any support for Abbie during the day prior to her moving in. The staff welcomed her with open arms during the day and cared for her needs.

Abbie quickly became part of the Cheddle lodge family and she absolutely loves her new friends. We have been overwhelmed with the staff that care and support Abbie on a daily basis.

Communication is excellent and we love the open door policy, we can turn up any time and we are always welcome. Abbie loves her visits to Skills day centre and she regularly goes out on day trips in her own car that we keep at Cheddle for staff to drive.

All services like Hydro, wheelchair service, Dr’s appointments, medication, Continance service, hairdressing, podiatry, physio, have been arranged and expertly handled by Candice and her team.

The staff are very experienced and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Candice the manager is the absolute flag ship at Cheddle, she has been professional and always goes that extra mile to ensure the care for Abbie and her residents are second to none.
We feel we have gained an extended family having Cheddle lodge in our lives.”

A Social Worker says…

“When I first entered Cheddle Lodge, my initial thoughts were that it was very clean and well maintained, which gives visitors a really good first impression. It also smelled clean and fresh, which shows that the people who live there are valued.

Staff were welcoming, and there was a lovely warm and calm atmosphere. The residents and staff were very relaxed, just enjoying the activities together and chatting. There was a modern TV and plenty of CDs for everyone to listen to as well.

The bathroom and changing facilities were of a very high standard, and each residents’ bedroom felt comfortable and homely. There were high quality furnishings, carpets, curtains and good quality clothes in the fitted wardrobes. Each bedroom was nicely decorated and personalised to each person’s preference.

It was an absolute pleasure to spend some time in your home, with your amazing staff and your inspiring residents. I left my visit feeling very satisfied that residents are living a good life, with great care and accommodation provided by you all.”

A Physiotherapist says…

“I wanted to say a big thank you to you and the team at Cheddle for your support of residents physiotherapy programmes.

It has been great working with you since you became manager (Candice Scambler). You have a really thorough knowledge of each of the residents and as a result have been strong advocate for their health needs. You work so hard to try and gain equitable health services for people with disabilities.

It is great that you understand the importance of exercise and movement to health. It can be difficult to engage people with disabilities in regular exercise but the whole team has found ways to encourage and support exercise.

The culture at Cheddle is one of openness and enthusiasm. It is a pleasure to work with you all. Thanks so much.”

Activities

We have our own Activities Co-ordinator to organise regular days out and community-based activities for residents, ensuring they have the opportunity to do the things they love. These may include canal trips, holidays, going to concerts or local shopping trips.
